This Cookies Policy governs the processing of data, including personal data, of users (“User” or “Users”), collected in the context of the use of the U17 International Football Tournament’s website through cookies, by Comité Organisateur du Tournoi International de Football (hereinafter “COTIF), as the entity acting as a controller for the processing.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small information files placed by visited websites and stored in the browser of the device used to access the Internet (e.g., computer or cell phone). These files allow for a certain period for the website to “remember” the actions and preferences of the Users like the chosen language, the font size, and other display settings. Therefore, when you scroll through the pages of a website or return to a website you have already visited you do not, in principle, must indicate your preferences again. Cookies can also be used to remember email address, name and surname so that you don’t have to keep entering them.

2. What types of cookies exist?

There are several types of cookies. Cookies can be classified according to the following characteristics:

  • Cookie lifespan:
    (a) Persistent Cookies – are cookies that are stored in the Users’ access equipment (computer, cell phone, and tablet), even after closing the browser. They are used whenever a new visit is made to one of our websites. They are generally used to target navigation to the User’s interests, allowing us to provide more personalised service.
    (b) Session Cookies – are temporary cookies and are deleted from the cookie file when or shortly after you close your browser. The information obtained by these cookies allows us to analyse web traffic patterns, enabling us to identify problems and provide a better browsing experience.
  • Origins of the cookies:
    (a) First party cookies – are cookies sent to the User’s terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by COTIF and from which the service requested by the User is provided.
    (b) Third-party cookies – are cookies sent to the User’s terminal equipment from a device or domain that is not managed by COTIF, but by another third-party entity over which COTIF has no control.
  • Purpose of Cookies:
    (a) Strictly necessary cookies – those that are necessary to ensure the functioning of the website and/or to ensure the provision of features that are requested by the User.
    (b) Analytical Cookies – these are cookies that allow tracking and analysis of User behaviour. They are used to measure activity, to draw up User browsing profiles, to focus efforts on improving the most visited areas and making it easier for the User to find what they are looking for.
    (c) Personalization Cookies – these are of an accessory nature (not necessary for the functioning of the website, but may improve its performance) and are used to personalise the User’s browsing experience.
    (d) Advertising Cookies – these are the cookies that allow you to manage, in the most efficient way possible, the advertising spaces found on the website and applications.

COTIF reserves the right at any time, without prior notice and with immediate effect, to change, add to, or revoke, in part or whole, this Cookies Policy. Any changes will be immediately disclosed on the websites and, whenever substantial changes are made to the User concerning cookies, a pop-up window will be displayed again so that, depending on the type of cookie in question, the User can access the information and/or consent to its use and storage.
