Anderlecht is known for its well-regarded youth academy, which has produced a number of talented players over the years. The academy is located in Neerpede, Brussels, and is considered one of the best in Belgium. Anderlecht's academy places a strong emphasis on player development and has a track record of producing technically-gifted players who are comfortable on the ball and have a good understanding of the game.
Some of the most notable players to have come through the Anderlecht academy include Vincent Kompany, Romelu Lukaku, and Youri Tielemans. Kompany, who is widely regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation, played for Anderlecht's youth teams, and participated in this tournament, before making his breakthrough with the first team. Lukaku, who is now one of the best strikers in the world and a key player for Inter and the Belgian national team, also came through the Anderlecht academy before being sold to Chelsea. Tielemans, who is a regular for Leicester City in the English Premier League and the Belgian national team, is another academy graduate who has established himself as one of the most talented midfielders in Europe.
