Standard de Liège is one of Belgium's most decorated football clubs, founded in 1898 by students of the College Saint-Servais in Liège, who named it after Standard Athletic Club of Paris. With 10 league titles and 8 Belgian Cups, "Les Rouches" have never been relegated from the top flight since 1921, the longest unbroken run in Belgian football history. Based at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in the industrial Sclessin district, Standard is known for its passionate fanbase, its deep roots in Wallonia, and a tradition of developing talent that has produced some of Belgium's finest internationals.

Academy

Standard de Liège's youth academy, now operating under the SL16 Football Campus, is one of the most productive development programmes in Belgian football. Originally known as the Academie Robert Louis-Dreyfus, the centre was inaugurated in 2007 and is located in Angleur, near the Sart-Tilman area of Liège. The campus features natural and synthetic training pitches, strength and conditioning facilities, a medical centre, and dedicated spaces for video analysis and academic study. In 2014, Standard was named Belgium's best youth development club (BFC Pro Youth Award). The academy's track record speaks for itself: Axel Witsel, Marouane Fellaini, Michy Batshuayi, and Eliaquim Mangala all came through the Standard youth system before establishing themselves at the highest levels of European football and with the Belgian national team.
